Showroom: Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire

Method of Production: Produced in a small production company made in the UK

Fabrics: I use Peace Silk in some of my bridal designs which is sourced from an ethical producer in the UK. The silkworms are fed on an organic diet, without hormone enhancement and the worms are allowed a full life cycle. I also line my dresses in organic (GOTS certified) cotton or bamboo, which has a lovely soft feel and it is super comfortable against the skin.

Eco/Ethical Ethos: I am an advocate for slow fashion, and so therefore I try to reduce my textile carbon footprint in both my personal and working life.  I am dedicated to upholding a positive impact; I buy clothes that last; I repair a lot too, mending ripped jeans, and sewing holes in jumpers. Fabric choices are important to me so I try to avoid polyester as much as possible and I buy the occasional piece made from organic cotton or Tencel.  I am not much of a shopper anyway as I find it so overwhelming when there are rails and rails of clothes. The independent shops are where you will find me browsing and all this resonates with my brand.

Sustainable and ethical practices are at the heart of my work. I produce minimal quantities and focus on the quality of the dresses. I hand paint my bridal collection on paper and I support the look with fabrics samples. My bridal collection is small, supporting slow fashion and the idea that less is more.

Jessica Turner Designs is an independent bridal designer and an ethical and sustainably made brand, producing less and valuing quality over quantity.

Jessica produces yearly collections with half of her designs painted on paper for inspiration and to reduce the use of raw materials.

The process of a bespoke bride is a sustainable process and it goes against the fast nature of the textile industry. Working with Jessica you get a unique result, a dress that no-one else will have.

Testimonials

"I asked Jessica Turner to design and make my wedding dress. She gave me a few drawing options and I picked the one I had in mind. She used her own knitted design and chantilly lace to make it look antique and boning to structure my figure. Not only did she make it within 3 months, and with a 6-month-old daughter at the time, she did an amazing job. The detail on the sleeves and back was my favourite part. I was so pleased with it and it made my wedding day! It is still hanging up at my parents' house and I admire it every time I go back. Thank you so much Jessica! ' - Vicky

"Thank you so, so much for today, I am so pleased with how it's going. Hope you are all well, and I am excited to see the final dress!! - I love it already." - Millie

"Jessica was very professional, kind and friendly throughout: even when I panicked that the dress wouldn’t be as I imagined, Jessica reassured me and ensured my vision was created.  I wish I could wear my dress everyday as I just simply love it." - Adele
