Natural Woodland Wedding Inspiration | Linda Thomas Eco Design Wedding Dresses

This utterly romantic woodland wedding shoot reflects the natural beauty of the English countryside through Linda’s latest unique collection of free spirited eco friendly wedding dresses. Totally relaxed with an alternative edge, the collection embraces raw Nature just as she is.

The shoot, which started out as the joint vision of a romantic beach shoot between Linda and photographer Katy McDonnell, set out to showcase more diversity in the models than we usually encounter in your average cookie cutter styled wedding shoot.

Of course this is what I would expect of Linda, a champion of diversity!

Nature had other plans ...

Nature it appears, had other plans, and they ended up in a woodland dell with the sunlight playing through the trees, dancing with the models - a naturally relaxed and dreamy environment for Linda’s unique designs and Katy’s photography.

Linda told me a bit more about the shoot …

"There is still a massive problem in mainstream wedding media where the majority of images are of slim white models with blemish-less skin.

True beauty is in our uniqueness, and I get far more excited seeing my dresses worn by a wide variety of women, not just the stereotype.

We chose models for their diversity and Tessa is involved in Changing Faces, the charity that raises awareness about facial disfigurement and differences - Tessa, who has face and neck birthmarks, is touring this year to highlight the issues of facial difference.

The models wore shoes by European ethical brand Po-Zu which are made using ‘Pinatex’ a leather-like material created from pineapple leaves, cork and sustainable wood. I fell in love with them and am now the proud owner of my own pair of silver pineapple leather shoes!

Despite my love of colour I wanted the shoot to have a dreamy romantic feel so, for the wedding dresses I turned up-cycled ivory coloured silks into simple feminine silhouettes with a bit of 1930’s influence. I hand felted some of the details around the high waists and trains and the contrasting textures of the silks and felting gave a luxurious feel of a bygone time. I stitched everything together using organic cotton thread.

The groom wore an outfit made up of a dinner jacket and trousers that I found in charity shops.  I added odd vintage pearl buttons and dyed the trousers a lovely soft pink.  The cufflinks were made by me for my husband and he graciously agreed to lend them to me for the shoot!”

What beautifully relaxed and natural wedding inspiration Linda and her team have created here - thank you all so much!
