REAL WEDDINGS: A naturally balanced fairytale woodland wedding in Wales: Natasha and Matt

This week I’ve got a dreamily earthy natural Welsh wedding for you to drool over, which took place at the stunning Fforest - an outdoor glamping wedding venue in Pembrokeshire.

When I heard that Natasha was a professional herbalist with her own company, Forage Botanicals, I just knew this stunning wedding, beautifully shot by the talented duo Peach and Jo, was going to capture all our imaginations …I got the low down from Natasha:

The Venue

The whole weekend was spent at Fforest, surrounded by the most beautiful countryside with our friends and family - everyone, including our lovely photographers, stayed in amazing yurts, bell tents and geodesic domes.

The Atmosphere

We wanted a temporary village of all our friends and family with a relaxed sense of community.

The Outfits

I wore a bespoke wedding dress, empire waist line, toule skirt, hand appliquéd bodice, made by Ellen Axielina.

Matt wore a hand made bespoke two piece suit with leather shoes and 100% wool tie.  Matt is a tailor and the reason we chose to have bespoke outfits!

The Food

To kick off we had canapes with champagne, then afternoon tea followed by a lamb spit roast in the evening and wedding cake, later we had kebabs at 11pm for the hungry. All the food was locally sourced and beautifully cooked by the team at Fforest.

People exploded with food!

The Eco Elements

It was really important to us that we had an eco friendly wedding. I'm a herbalist, so I respect mother nature and wanted our wedding to bring people into nature. Fforest is rooted deep in the countryside and provides local seasonal foods. Even our flowers were grown in Wales and hand picked by us two days before the wedding from Flower Hive.

We kept it local. Local wedding cake, local singer, local food (in fact most of the food was grown on site at Fforest), local alcohol, local flowers. And the majority of our guests camped off grid.

Can you be Stylish AND Green?

Yes, of course!

Tips for Brides Planning to throw a Green Wedding …

First plan your ideal wedding and then see what you can do to substitute as many of your ideas with eco elements. You don't have to compromise much on the style of your wedding for your eco values, if you do your research.

Special Touches

We foraged for extra foliage and finishing touches on the day. My centrepiece for the slate altar slab was made with bits of twigs, rocks and flowers gathered sensitively from the surrounding area. Being a herbalist means I have lots of forage-capable friends!

Huge thanks to Natasha and Matt for letting me feature their beautiful dreamy wedding weekend at the amazing Fforest - one of the most incredible venues we’ve had the honour of featuring on Green Union. And thanks too, to Peach and Jo for sharing their stunning photos of the wedding.
