CONSCIOUS CONSUMERISM - SKECH, A Leading Phone Case Company, Makes A Dedicated Step Towards Greater Sustainability
16th February 2020
I don't know about you, but a find myself doing a little internal happy dance when I hear about a big company making strides towards sustainability, especially when they are leading the way in an industry synonymous with plastic waste. SKECH is one of these; for the past 15 years, they have produced high-quality smartphone covers but grew concerned about the harmful effects of plastic waste on the environment. They realised that they were part of the problem, and have pledged to become part of the solution.
Their goal is to reduce their environmental impact to zero, and aim to convert 90% of their case sales to eco- friendly products the end 2025; that is, products that are biodegradable, made of renewable sources, or recycled.
The first step on this exciting journey of reducing their environmental footprint is the introduction of a range of bio-friendly mobile phone covers made from 100% compostable materials - and the packaging is recyclable, too. BioCase is designed to become part of the earth after it is done serving the primary purpose of protecting your mobile phone.
BioCase is composed of a flexible yet tough biodegradable bioplastic (PBAT), calcium and talcum, with embedded bamboo fibres for enhanced durability and a natural look and feel. Just as importantly, it meets the company's high standards for protection and quality, too.
SKECH is keen to stay ahead of the curve and bring new environmentally-friendly innovations to the market as soon as they are available. For now, the BioCase is available in five different colours; Olive, Sand, Orchid, Ocean, Eclipse and Olive. Unsurprisingly, Olive green is my favourite - what's yours?
