CONSCIOUS LIVING - Save Money And The Planet With These Top Tips

10th September 2020

CONSCIOUS LIVING - Save Money and the Planet with These Top TipsThese days we all love a bit of technology. Whether it’s a Wi-Fi lightbulb, a brand new smartphone, that A+ energy rated fridge or an electric car, our love of technology and electricity seems to go hand in hand, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good for the environment or your wallet.

There are a few things you can do to ensure that you’re being green AND saving money, which in the times of furlough and COVID, is something many of us wish we could do more of.

Saving the planet isn’t usually seen as something that can help us save money; in fact, most people assume that being ‘greener’ means spending a fortune on new stuff that is only half as efficient as their non-green alternatives. It doesn’t have to be that way; here are four ways you can save money and do it in an ethical and planet-loving way.

1. Only Upgrade to Great Brands

If you don’t need to upgrade your tech, then don’t. There is no need to buy the latest gadgets just become they came out yesterday; wait until it is necessary for you to do so, instead. However, some of us do need fast and reliable technology to work from, which means upgrades are necessary. Fortunately, buying newer, more reliable gadgets means you can keep them for longer, so you’re likely to save more money in the long run, and they’re more likely to be energy efficient. You might think this is expensive at first, but if you are looking to upgrade your gadgets, you can check out big brand deals like Samsung discount codes and others from reliable brands that build quality products to last.

2. Motion Activated Lights

Upgrading your lights is something we should all do. Those old-style non-LED ones are not energy efficient at all and will be costing you extra on your electricity bills. When you do decide to upgrade, however, why not go for new Wi-Fi-enabled lights and a set of motion sensors

Motion sensors usually work off of tiny watch batteries and can save energy and save you money by turning the light off when there’s no one in the room!

3. Energy Efficient Appliances

Our appliances use a huge amount of electricity and water, but the new energy-efficient models that have an A+ rating are really worth the investment for both the planet and your wallet!

Lower energy use and lower water use means less drain on the planet’s resources and lower bills for you.

4. Get an Energy Monitor

Energy monitors are all the rage! They are a great idea to check how much energy you and your family are using on a day to day basis, ensure you’re always on the best tariff and alert you to any big energy drains. This means you can save on your electric bill and learn to be more conservative with your energy usage.
