CONSCIOUS HOME - Get Into Eco-Friendly Landscaping With An Electric LawnmowerWhat does it really mean to be eco-friendly? A term used when referring to something that doesn’t cause environmental damage. We hear about being eco-friendly all the time and everywhere, but why is it so important? When you live in a house, you take care of it, you clean it, you fix it when needed, and you feel good when it’s perfect. Earth is our common home and each one of us has a responsibility towards it, to keep it clean and safe, just like our own homes. Being eco-friendly is part of the process, and it can be done in small things like reusable water bottles, efficient light bulbs, and electric cars. So, that’s why I’m here today, to talk about another product used every day, by millions of people, and that can also be eco-friendly - electric lawnmowers.

A lawnmower is a very popular and used tool to take care of gardens, and there’s a range of options to choose from, but what are the real dangers of going for petrol-powered equipment? There are several environmental issues, such as air pollution, as a lot of petrol-powered equipment produces particles that can seriously affect the health of the people using it regularly. Regarding fuel use, not only does this include the process of putting fuel inside the machine, which can lead to spills, but it also consumes a lot of fuel and ends up being even more expensive. With this, let me guide you through the eco-friendly world of electric lawnmowers.

Electric Lawnmowers? What About Those?

An Electric LawnmowerLet’s start from the beginning: electric lawnmowers first started to appear around 1930. They have been around for quite a while now, but they still hold a competition with the classic petrol-powered mowers - even though they’ve been constantly improving over the years due to great advances in technology.

Maintenance And Saving

As the name says, electric lawnmowers don’t need any non-renewable fuel and only use electricity as their power source (even better if you use a green energy supplier!). Not only is this more practical, but it also allows them to start right away, with a click of a button (the famous electric start). The days of waiting for the machine to start are over because there’s nothing quicker than starting up an electric lawnmower -no more muscle work needed! Besides that, there’s another advantage of choosing an electrical version, like being easier and cheaper to do its maintenance. Being energy efficient, the battery lasts a really long time before needing to be recharged, giving it plenty of time to use and reuse, and in the end, it only takes a quick cleaning, some weed removing, and from time to time, sharpening the blade. It makes it not only easy but also a great way to save money from the fuel and the long maintenance petrol-powered devices need.

For The Greens, Being Green

It’s so easy being green when facing this alternative. One of the best features of an electric lawnmower is being eco-friendly since it doesn’t use any fuel, they avoid spills and damage to the lawn and doesn’t send unhealthy particles to the air and to the person using it. Another great thing about the electric device is that you don’t have to change the way you cut your grass and use the equipment because nowadays you can find a diversity of types such as corded, cordless, to push or to ride, all of them in their own electric version.

One of the greatest things about changing from petrol to electric is that it doesn’t change the performance, in fact, some of the electric versions even surpass the petrol versions. Also, while using a lawnmower, there is one thing that everyone hates, especially your neighbours - the noise it makes. It can be so annoying, but I have good news, as you can finally be in peace without all that noise pollution. Besides being an obnoxious sound, it could damage the user’s hearing, and with an electric version, the sound is reduced to a minimum and expands the time you could use it since it won’t bother the surrounding houses - always a welcome bonus for yourself and your neighbours.

Final Thoughts

Eco-Friendly LandscapingIn our everyday life, there are a lot of things we could change to be more eco-friendly, from smaller things, like recycling rubbish, to bigger ones, like changing the way we move from place to place. There’s no excuse to continue using a petrol-powered lawnmower when there’s the option of choosing an electric version, as it not only helps the environment but also brings a lot of other advantages. Thanks for reading, and I hope it will help you choose the best device for your garden and, ultimately, help to move you forward into a more eco-friendly life.
