ADVICE - How To Host A Festival Wedding, By Becca Loughnane, Founder Of Glamping Events Company, The Canvas TribeThe Canvas Tribe are a glamping events company providing gorgeous bell tents for wedding villages, taking guest accommodation and chill-out spots to the next level. We ́ve seen our fair share of festival late nights and wedding parties and there truly is no wedding like a WedFest! Festivals are such a happy place, the live music, rows and rows of colourful bunting, unreal street food and if you ́re lucky a little bit of sun!

We can ́t think of a better way to celebrate your big day than a festival all about you as a couple, with all your favourite people in tow! What’s even better, is that you can pick out your festival highlights - drop the giant queues and questionable loos - and make them your own!

Once you’re convinced a WedFest is for you, it’s time to take on the mammoth task of planning a festival alongside your wedding. But what you gain from that extra push is a completely unique and personalised wedding! Trust us – it will be worth it!

Here are some top tips and our favourite eco-friendly suppliers to create the main structure for your weekend so you can get on with the super fun plans of making the festival of your dreams.

1. Venue

The first hurdle is your venue, there are some gorgeous blank canvases out there, allowing you to really create your festival from scratch. However, what comes along with this option is the headache of toilets, water and electrical supply. Our opinion would be to forgo these issues and go for a venue with toilets and easy access to the main supplies or generators.

A favourite of ours is The Barns at Lodge Farm - they have a lush grass meadow which provides the perfect space for glamping, tipis, marquees and outdoor ceremonies with views over the surrounding countryside. Worthy Farm eat your heart out! They also have an amazing sustainability policy and the friendliest team going!

2. Glamping

No-one thinks of a Festival without camping! But forget the passive-aggressive stares at your tent building buddies, broken tent poles, or a collection of ugly plastic tents.

Think more of beautiful canvas bell tents, organic bed sheets, LED lights and fully vegan camping essentials. You set up your date with The Canvas Tribe and leave the rest to us! We ́ll arrange bookings with your guests, pitching, furnishing and leaving without a trace. You just arrive at your wonderful wedding village!

3. Decorations

For us, the festival vibe really thrives with the decorations! An abundance of colours, signs, bunting and flags!

The Event Flag Hire Company is great at providing a festival atmosphere quickly and so effectively, their epic eco-friendly flags and bunting transform any environment into somewhere special with minimal effort or hassle.

Another firm favourite is Anthology Vintage Hire who can provide stunning handmade reclaimed wooden chairs & tables, rugs, sofas, big props, little props – whatever you ́re looking for, they ́ve got you covered! Making any space from a giant field to an intimate tipi, feel truly special and unique.

If you ́re feeling confident; DIY decorations always look the best especially for a WedFest – super sentimental touches allowing you to bring your story as a couple to life. So, rope in the handiest people you know and get started. Upcycling is the easiest – minimal building and sustainable too. Our favourites are giant festival signs – reclaimed wood, a lick of paint and you ́ve got a stand-out decoration!

4. Lettering & Signage

Stationary can be a difficult decision for any style of wedding, especially if you ́re looking to be as eco-conscious as possible. Personally we can ́t justify a mass of printing to tell guests how the big day will unfold or what food they ́ll be munching on later, so we always recommend The Roaming Caravan Co with a mixture of lettering and signage, as well as the uber festival chic caravan bar, 'Margot'.

4. Food Trucks

What ́s a festival without some delicious street food?! There ́s hundreds of amazing food options depending on your taste. All the best street vendors we ́ve worked with have been found whilst mooching around on a lazy weekend - so hit the local street markets and grab some cards!

Ultimately you ́re having a WedFest to marry your best friend surrounded by everything and everyone you love, so try not to get bogged down by the big decisions or stress over the little ones. Festivals rarely run smoothly but you always look back on them with the best memories and your WedFest will be no different!
