Makeup is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine (vegan and as clean as possible, of course!), but removing it can be a wasteful process. Which is why I was excited to try these reusable makeup remover cotton pads from ADBRA.
This new eco-ethical start-up company is based in London and their core value is about putting people and planet first; what this means is that their products focus on sustainability and well-being. Adel Djebbar, Design Director and founder of the company, says:
We try to reduce our carbon footprint as much as we can and offset the rest. All our products are plastic-free. The aim of the business is to provide products that will not only have a positive impact on people’s mental health but also be as neutral for the planet as possible. We are committed to being a fair business, and whenever hiring contractors, we pay at or above the London living wage.
This beauty set is one of their first product launches, and it includes 16 washable pads, a washing machine bag for easy washing, a beautiful bamboo storage holder to keep all your pads neatly arranged, 2 washable silicone 'cotton' buds for makeup application, and a natural face sponge for face cleansing.
And what's more:
I was pleasantly surprised at the softness of these pads - they removed face makeup well with just warm water, but the stubborn mascara needed a little micellar water assistance, but ultimately resulting in less than I would normally need to use! They washed really well with my regular 30o wash, and it's a nice touch to have something perfectly designed to store them in.
I hadn't used a silicone applicator for makeup before, but it resulted in much less powder loss and a more regular line than a brush does, so I'm really pleased to have found it for applying eyeliner.
The konjac sponge is something I've also seen before but never tried - it did a lovely job of building the foam of my usual cleanser, so once again, I didn't need to use as much product - result!
Ultimately, this set would make a great gift, or the perfect sustainable treat for yourself. So if you haven't already made to swap to reusable makeup remover pads, check them out here!
