GUEST POST - Greener Weddings from Award-Winning Wedding Caterer, Pieminister
16th March 2020
With more people than ever taking up plant-based diets, it's great to see the ethical, health and environmental benefits being reflected in the offerings of enlightened wedding caterers.
Today I'd like to introduce Pieminister, the award-winning family pie-makers from Bristol. They’ve been catering for weddings for over fifteen years across the South West, South East and Midlands; and in response to demand from their couples in recent years, they’ve launched a full plant-based wedding menu.
It all began with Kevin, Pieminister’s first plant-based pie. Pie lovers couldn’t get enough of this tomato, mushroom and red wine pie so Pieminister simply had to create more of the same. Soon followed two saffron pastry vegan patties, then Chooks Away!, a vegan ‘chicken’ pie; and now there's Evergreen, a fresh zesty pie bursting with greens, which headlines a ‘Plant-based Pieminister’ vegan menu in their restaurants across the UK.
So naturally, the next step was to introduce a carefully curated menu for couples opting for a plant-based pie wedding. Katie Packham, Head of Events at Pieminister says:
‘Since we started fifteen years ago, we’ve gained a reputation for being sustainable wedding caterers. This is because of our ethical ingredient sourcing and careful consideration for the environment in terms of event planning and production.
In recent years we’ve seen a huge increase in the number of couples choosing our vegan pies and sides for their special day. So to be able to respond to this demand by offering everything plant-based, from canapes and sharing starter platters through to desserts and wedding cakes, is so exciting. We can provide a 100% vegan bar too, of course’.
You could start the celebrations with plant-based canapes, followed by two fabulous sharing platters to tuck into. One of the platters includes Pieminister’s new vegan patties, Chana Dahl and Holy Chipotle! which look just as good as they taste, wrapped in their golden saffron pastry served with a vibrant seasonal slaw.
Like the patties, the vegan pies carry the trusted Vegan trademark too and wedding guests will love to have their favourite pie served up Mothership-style, with vegan mash, gravy, peas topped with ‘cheese’ and shallots. This famous Pieminister feast was born at Glastonbury so it’s perfect for serving at festival-style weddings (something Pieminister gets asked to do a lot as this is where many happy couples first fell in love with Pieminister, and each other!)
