WEDDING VENUE INSPIRATION - 15 Exquisite Winter Wedding Venues in the USA

9th March 2020

Winter may be starting to let go of its grip on us here in the UK, but if it's your favourite season, or are looking to maximise your budget, a Winter wedding may be just the thing for you! 30% of the GREEN UNION blog readership and social media follows are from based in the USA, and my own husband is from Arizona, so when I received this overview of some of the very best Winter wedding venues over the pond, I couldn't resist sharing them!

If you’re at the beginning of your wedding planning process, you and your partner might be brainstorming ideas for your colour scheme, theme, decor, destination and the season you’d like to hold your wedding. For those of you thinking of planning a destination wedding, we thought we’d round up some unique destination winter wedding ideas across the US.

As great as Spring and Summer weddings can be, there’s something truly enchanting and surprisingly warm about a winter wedding. As they’re outside peak wedding season, they can help you stay within your budget (for a destination wedding, of course) and expand your venue, catering and decor options as vendors tend to have greater availability during the winter months.

You can also add unique details and surprises for your guests to enjoy. Things like blankets or mittens for party favours, a hot cider station or a burning fireplace are just a few ideas that create a warm and inviting atmosphere for your winter wedding.

To save you some time, this collection of venues includes important details like capacity, available wedding spaces, nearby activities for your guests and more! Once you’ve chosen a few venues that you both like, prepare a list of questions for each venue - having a few questions on hand will make the selection process much easier. Simply send the venue coordinator an email to see if the space fits your needs, once you have a better idea of the venue you’d like to choose, you can book a tour or even plan a video call with the coordinator to get a virtual tour of the space.

Some questions you can ask include:

  • How do you prepare for a winter wedding?
  • Do you have a backup for rain or snow?
  • If there are outdoor spaces available, do you have heaters?
  • What are usually the best dates to book for mild winter weather?
  • Do you allow candles?
  • Do you allow outside vendors?
  • How many weddings have you hosted?
  • Would you suggest additional travel time for us and our guests?
  • Do you count with guest rooms? If so, how many?

So whether you and your future spouse love the snow, dream of an outdoorsy rustic type wedding, or are just looking to plan something creative, you’re sure to find the perfect venue in this list.
