The Dress
“I am an advocate of slow fashion and I put this into practice when I design. My designs are hand-painted on a beautiful handmade paper to provide inspiration, then I work closely with brides through the bespoke process making toiles and resourcing appropriate fabrics.”
A bespoke bridal designer supports a sustainable path to production. Jessica has a small yet perfectly formed collection and the ‘Royal’ dress she used for this shoot has a modern slit up the front, boho sleeves with a statement lower back, it has a contemporary style that is perfectly suited to the wedding venue of Casterley Barn. All Jessica’s dresses are lined with a bamboo fabric, which feels similar to silk and cashmere combined; it has amazing properties, including being biodegradable, antibacterial and eco-friendly.
The Shoes
These delightfully modern shoes are by Charlotte Mills, and are handmade in Spain.
The Hair and Make Up
MK Hair and Make Up is a local supplier to Casterley Barn. Marie used cruelty-free vegan brands with subtle hints of peach and nude colours, including Kat Von D, Charlotte Tilbury and Bare Minerals.
The look was brought together with ceramic earrings by Febbie Day and a boho hairpiece by Clare Lloyd Couture Bridal Accessories.
The Groom
The groom's suit was from Devlin Bridal Couture in Melksham.
The Flowers
Clementine Moon Floral Design, a newcomer to the local floristry scene, holds a strong ethical outlook. Clare doesn’t use any floral foam, and she re-uses resources wherever possible. When in season, British flowers are predominantly used to keep her carbon footprint low; the flowers for this shoot were out of season so had to be sourced from wholesalers, but the foliage was sourced from a local grower:
“I’m really passionate about supporting other small businesses by sourcing flowers from local growers. They cultivate part of our landscape which in turn provides lots of lovely flowers for bees and other pollinators to thrive in.”
The bouquet was dressed with lovely long ribbons from Botanical Being, an artist and designer who works with botanicals and focuses on natural dyes and botanical printing.
“I use many of the plants and trees that grow in and around my home in Suffolk for my dying process. Using natural resources, I connect with nature, scouring the fields and woodlands thus building a better practice for the environment."
The Ceremony
Here is a snapshot of those countryside views mentioned earlier...what a magnificent backdrop to saying 'I do'.
The Tablescape
This elegant table was dressed with naturally-dyed fabrics by Botanical Being, ceramics by Febbie Day, and more florals by Clementine Moon Floral Design.
The Stationery
The pretty stationery was designed by the Wildflower Illustration Co. and features hand-written calligraphy and watercolour illustrations by Rebecca, which is then carefully printed on thick, textured ivory cardstock, hand-finished and packaged in-house at their Cotswold-based studio.
The Cake
The lovely textured cake was made by Trudy of Jelly Cake in her home-kitchen in Wiltshire. It was adorned with a delicate spray of fresh flowers, and an elegant ribbon - simple but very effective!
Portraits
Rachel is a local photographer, who's natural and luminous style was perfect for this shoot. Making use of both the interior and exterior spaces, she also captured some beautiful relaxed portraits of the happy couple!
