If your New Year's Resolution is to cut waste and live more sustainably, Net Zero has some beautifully-designed plastic-free products to help you do just that!
They offer a range of environmentally-friendly, reusable lifestyle products, which are as stylish as they are functional. Orders are sent in 100% biodegradable plastic-free packaging, and for every order placed they also help plant trees with donations to Eden Reforestation Projects, an organization dedicated to reversing deforestation and fighting poverty to plant trees in poverty-stricken countries, such as Nepal, Indonesia and Haiti.
One area of our daily lives where reducing waste is very simple is with portable, reusable drinkware, so I was delighted to roadtest two of Net Zero's products, one for hot and cold drinks, the other for my personal saviour, coffee (ok, or tea, but I'm biased!).
My family have used water bottles for a while now, but none have been entirely plastic-free like these stainless steel ones, which come in recycled and recyclable protective packaging. They have a range of 5 options; 2 plain colours (black and white) and 3 patterns (jellyfish on pink, marine life on blue, and a tribal wave design on light grey), so there's bound to be one to suit everyone! The scratch-resistant powder-coated matte finish helps them look newer for longer, too.
Suitable for both hot and cold drinks, these bottles hold a generous but not too cumbersome 600ml and have a bamboo-topped lid with a leak-proof silicone washer. They are double-wall insulated, so keep cold drinks cool for up to 24 hours, and hot drinks warm for up to 12 hours, and come with a useful handle for carrying, or attaching to a bag or rucksack.
In testing, they live up to all these claims (although if like me, you prefer your coffee hot to warm, you might want to finish it by the 12-hour mark!). My personal favourite is the goes-with-everything grey, whilst the jellyfish are a clear winner with my daughter - which is your favourite?
Next up...these beauties!
I've had several different travel coffee mugs over the years, but have never tried a glass one - in my mind, they would be just too heavy. In testing out this one, however, I realised that I mostly use them in the car, so I don't actually carry them further than to and from my car to my house - oh, and they aren't actually as heavy as I thought, either!
These mugs are made of borosilicate glass (which means they're super tough) and have silicone lids and an ample sleeve to avoid burned fingers - all of which also means that they're completely dishwasher-friendly (yay!). They are available in 4 colours; Blue Oasis, Pink Dolphin, Grey Pebbles and Seaweed Green - and come presented in adorable cylindrical boxes with a marine animal print, perfect for gifting, and reuseable for all sorts of storage ideas afterwards.
Each mug holds up to 12 fluid ounces (the equivalent of a 'tall' or a 'small', depending on your usual coffee house chain), and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it fits neatly into the cupholder in the car - result! Since the controversy over bamboo fibre mugs and the release of harmful chemicals into hot drinks, I'd stopped using mine - I'm glad to have an even more sustainable option now, thanks to Net Zero!
