REAL WEDDING - The Exquisitely Chic Devon Wedding of Jacqueline and Ben, Captured by GREEN UNION Partner, Deborah Schenck

10th January 2020

The wedding day of Jacqueline and Ben has to be one of the most artistically-captured wedding days I have ever seen. It is little wonder though, as not only is Deborah Schenck a renowned fine art and lifestyle photographer, but Jacqueline is an artist, and Ben is an architect - the combination of their combined creative visions is exquisite.

Not only was it a stunningly stylish affair, but the couple were keen to use local suppliers and seasonal flowers, but also ensured that afterwards, as much as possible was recycled or reused.

The Guests

The ceremony guests also received the Fine Art treatment in a series of beautiful portraits.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was attended by 20 of their nearest and dearest; it was held in the living room of The Greenway Estate, the holiday home of the much-loved author, Agatha Christie. As a National Trust property, it is dedicated to safeguarding the local environment and nature and champion sustainability.

The Seaside Ceremony

The following day, the couple held a second ceremony on the beach at their home on the estuary in Galmpton.

Deborah recalls: "Ben lit a bonfire as part of the ceremony. The wind turned and ended up blowing onto all the guests! I was the closest to the fire and nearly lost my eyebrows! Would have been a dramatic event with the photographer on fire...". We all want a memorable day, and luckily this was a positive one - but serves as a good reminder that Nature is boss!

Eco wise everything was handmade . Flowers picked locally and everything recycled afterwards.

The Evening

That evening (and a quick change into dress number 3), they hosted around 200 guests in a marquee celebration.

The Gowns

Well-deserving of a second look are Jacqueline's three gowns, including the sublime artwork print dress by British designer and slow fashion advocate, Maria Grachvogel; all could be work many times over in the future.
