INSPIRATION - A Secret Garden Ceremony with Faux Floral Design at The Little Dower House, Captured by Alexis Jaworski

2nd October 2019

When Emily from Faux Blooms brought this inspiration feature to me, I was delighted to accept it. Artificial flowers have come a very long way in quality, and whilst no one will argue that they are plastic and polyester creations, and while they may not suit all eco-consciences, there are certain sustainable angles to their usage which should give one a moment of reflection.

"We are extremely passionate about creating not only beautiful, very natural looking designs but also providing a service which can reduce a weddings carbon footprint & waste. Faux Bloom's unique floral hire option utilises the 3 R's; reduce, re-use & recycle. The re-usability of our blooms & foliage create less of a demand for fresh imports, in turn reducing air miles/transit emissions as well as massively maximising clients budgets and design options."

In addition, the benefits of faux include:
• Allergy-friendly
• Non-wilting
• Ideal for destination weddings
• Maintenance-free
• Full bloom & lasting colour

Emily goes on to tell us more about the styled shoot itself:

"We recently organised a styled shoot at the beautiful Little Dower House in Old Windsor. This stunning privately owned outdoor wedding venue is nestled amongst acres of wild flower meadows, paddocks & enchanted woodland. I was initially introduced to Hamish & Suzi (the owners) by a wonderful friend & celebrant Jenny Knight, after a few calls & the suggestion of a styled shoot they invited us to take a look around & discuss ideas.

Once I discovered the stunning secret walled garden I knew we would have to create something very special for the shoot. The old Catalpa tree was our focus for the ceremony & tablescape, enchanting branches sweeping down to the soft moss beneath your feet. Standing under this beautiful tree bought an immense feeling of calm, time truly stood still, mesmerised by the flickering sun light dancing through the leaves.

For a location an unique as this, I needed to pull in the very best suppliers... the calls started & the exciting task began to create the most beautiful secret garden shoot possible. The suppliers who worked on this project were simply amazing, talent & artistry oozing from them all!

On the day of the shoot, the sun was shining and there was a real buzz from all on set, some of us had met before & some were known only by name (the joy of Instagram!), but by the end if the day we had our arms round each other, eating the leftover delights of Dani's Curated Kitchen sharing platters."
