REAL WEDDING - A Light-Infused Autumnal Celebration at The Normans, Captured by Lumiere Photographic

6th September 2019

Today, I'm delighted to share the beautiful mid-October wedding of Rachel and Andrew. The family-run country venue, The Normans near York, is comprised of sympathetically-restored farm buildings; perfect for a rustic wedding!

Following the proposal at Camber Sands beach during a weekend away, they had an 18 month engagement before tying the knot in a day which Rachel describes as "magical, and full in love".

Rachel grew up in Harrogate so naturally wanted to be able to get ready at home with her bridesmaids on the morning of the wedding. They stumbled across The Normans after a lot of searching and loved how beautiful it was, whilst also being laid back.

I knew I wanted something more dramatic. I tried on a fair few more dresses but kept on coming back to it. The Bridal Emporium were amazing at helping me choose the beading, colours and alterations so it felt like it fitted perfectly on the day".

Their acoustic band, Free to Roam, played whilst she walked down the aisle (an acoustic rendition of What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong), during the signing of the register (I’m Yours by Jason Mraz), and when they walked back up the aisle (Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder).

Rachel explains: "we wanted [the wedding day] to really feel like ‘us’, so quite informal, where all our friends and family could relax and let their hair down. We tried to keep things simple and focus on how we could spend the most time with the people we love and what would help them to have a great time".

Gayle made 3 individual cakes, each differently sized and flavoured; White Chocolate and Orange, Classic Victoria Sponge, and Lemon and Elderflower. The wooden boards were chopped down at her boyfriend’s farm, and she decorated the cakes using flowers supplied by their florist, Clock Dandelion.

Rachel's advice to future brides is simply to: "Enjoy it! The day goes so quickly so take all the moments you can to remember it and soak it all up".
