INSPIRATION - An Eco-Friendly Editorial at The Wellbeing Farm

12th June 2019

Today, I'm delighted to feature a styled shoot hosted by GREEN UNION partner, The Wellbeing Farm, in collaboration with Creative Camera, and a whole host of sustainable suppliers.

As the world begins to open its eyes to climate change and the challenges that face us, it’s only natural that the wedding industry has followed suit and become more environmentally-conscious than ever before; the concept of this shoot was a celebration of the industry’s great achievements in ensuring that it leaves as little mark on the environment as possible,

Reusing, recycling and repurposing were big themes during the shoot, so it’s hardly surprising that there was a vintage edge to the styling. Vintage props were sourced from The Wellbeing Farm’s own prop store (less transportation required), and the wedding dresses from Vintage Lane Bridal Boutique were all second hand. All of Made by Rae Designs’ bespoke wedding stationery was made out of recycled materials.

It’s unusual to see a styled shoot planned with the intention of making absolutely no impact, but that’s exactly what happened here! The confetti from Adam Apple was 100% biodegradable; all of Kerry Baker’s makeup was cruelty free and vegan; the suit from John Francis was hired and will be reused; and all of Flowers From The Garden’s flowers were sourced from, you guessed it, her garden!

The two models, Abbie Potter and Alex Raw, are completely supportive of the sustainability movement, and looked stunning wearing jewellery from Silver Sixpence in her Shoe, with their hair styled by Maegen Wilkinson, as they tucked into Soul Vegan’s delicious cruelty-free cakes and desserts.

Hopefully, this styled shoot will encourage couples in the future to consider a zero-waste wedding, contributing further to the wedding industry’s steps towards sustainability!
