REAL WEDDING - Fenella & Nick's Cotswolds Wedding, Captured by Nick Brightman Photography

8th May 2019

Today's real wedding feature is courtesy of Nick Brightman Photography and one of his lovely couples, Fennella & Nick. Their October wedding took place at St Peter's Church, Dumbleton, before heading to Dumbleton Hall for their wedding reception.

Fenalla and Nick made lots of good eco and ethical choices for their big day, most of which would be very easy for most couples to integrate thoughtfully into their wedding days. These included:

  • Hiring suits

  • Using pre-existing dressing gowns for bridal prep, rather than the single use 'bride' and 'bridesmaids' ones

  • Flowers were seasonal where possible, and confetti was made from dried flower petals

  • Making wooden slices for table centre pieces from a long ago felled tree from their garden

  • Placing edible favours in glasses that they are now using to drink from at home

  • Charity favours per reception table of a donation to UNICEF to fund vaccines and fresh water, etc

  • Having nothing personalised with the wedding date that couldn't be reused/recycled

  • Donating half of our wedding gift money to a range of charities

  • They also encouraged their guests to walk from the Hall to the Church and back again, rather than everyone drive

Not only are these conscious choices good environmentally and ethically, they also have money-saving potential, too!
