29th March 2019
Bands for Hire have 15 years experience in the entertainment business and operate nationwide; they understand just how important your event is to you, and pride themselves on a straight forward approach to event organisation. They have a huge line up of talented musicians and entertainment professionals, representing every style and taste you can imagine.
For some couples, knowing the tone of their wedding day is an instinctive choice; but often, it can be trickier to pin down the best stylistic expression of yourselves. So read on for Bands for Hire's run down of a few key trends to help you decide!
The DIY Darlings
You’re the cooperative couple who want to build their big day from the ground up with their own hands. There’ll be an awful lot of planning involved, but it’ll be all the more rewarding when you pull it off - plus, everything will be done your way!
Where? The Marquee
Your marquee is literally your blank canvas - it’s entirely up to you how you decorate it and fill it. This is probably the most personal style of wedding, as you can choose everything from your location, be it your favourite stretch of beachor your parents’ back garden, to how you arrange the contents of your marquee. You can also decide when to have your marquee wedding - but we wouldn’t recommend trying to erect a giant tent in winter!
What? Ceilidh Band and Lawn Games
To make the most of the great outdoors, you’re going to want plenty of activities to keep your guests inhaling that fresh air. A Ceilidh band or a similar traditional band comes ready with its own distinctive dance steps, so it’s a great way of getting everyone involved. And giant lawn games are always a huge hit - simple to play, plus you’re unlikely to lose any pieces in the grass.
The Black Tie Beauties
Do your guests refer to you as their ‘cool friends’? Well, we’re sure you’d hate to disappoint them on your big day - so let’s tie the knot in style! Black tie events ooze elegance and importance - it’s like the Oscars, and the award for the classiest couple goes to you two.
Where? The Boutique Hotel
Nothing says class quite like an awesome hotel function room! It may not be the most original setting for your wedding, but it’s popular for a reason. It’s the perfect setting to wow your guests, and you’ll have plenty of time to do that, as the helpful staff will take care of the logistics for you.
What? Jazz Band and Cocktails
You’re going to want to go full Great Gatsby with this one - all the glitz and glamour of the roaring twenties. And what better way to bring the golden age of jazz to life than with a hot jazz trio or band, and some classic cocktails? Make mine a martini!
The Rustic Romantics
In this modern age, we’re a lot more environmentally conscious, and as a result people are looking for new ways to reuse old things. If you’re a couple of creative eco-warriors, you’re going to need a way of sharing your love of Mother Earth and your love of Brother Music with your guests. Wear your comfiest and most colourful eco-friendly clothing, breathe in the fresh, unpolluted air and spread the positive vibes!
Where? The Homemade Festival
Festival culture has taken on a life of its own over the past few decades, and if you two share some magical musical memories of Glastonbury, V Festival, T in the Park and Reading and/or Leeds, then it only makes sense for you to pull on your muddy wellies and glamp the night away to some all-time anthems. You can hire a repurposed barn or similarly large building in an isolated location, and fill it with all your favourite festival things.
What? Acoustic folk band, Pizza Truck
Since everything else at your wedding has a homemade, natural feel, it stands to reason that your entertainment and refreshment should also reflect these qualities. You can recreate the festival experience with a woodfired pizza truck parked up to one side ready to spin that freshly made dough, and hire a quality Mumford and Sons-style acoustic folk band for that natural timbre.
The tried and tested can seldom be bested! If you’ve always dreamed of a classic white wedding and can’t count the number of times you’ve swooned at Pride and Prejudice, there’s only one way to go.
Where? The Country House
Hiring a very big house in the country for your wedding can be surprisingly affordable, and once you see you beautifully turned out guests set against the antique oak furniture and red velvet drapes, it’ll seem well worth the cost. If there’s one way to let your guests know they’re at the most important event of your lifetime, it’s treating them like royalty.
What? String Quartet and Canapes
You never feel quite so sophisticated as you do tiptoeing around in your fanciest outfit with a prawn cocktail in one hand and a glass of champers in the other to the uplifting strains of Vivaldi. Classical music befits a traditional white wedding, and waiters offering trays of fancy nibbles only add to the delight of not having to do anything but look great together.
The Travelling Twosome
If you’re a pair of adventurous types, then it only makes sense for you to toss the bouquet whilst you’re on vaycay. This is also a great way of combining your wedding day with your honeymoon, if you’re a little short on time. Once a traveller, always a traveller!
Where? The Holiday Destination
Getting married in a far off land might sound like the behaviour of movie stars and runaway lovers - but you can do it too! Escaping the hustle and bustle with your nearest and dearest and a few close friends and family members in tow isn’t nearly as much of an organisational nightmare as it may sound - you just have to get on the ball early on so you can book hotels, flights and make sure everyone can get time off work!
What? World Music and Exotic Cocktails
You’ll want to choose something particular to where you’re actually going, but steel drum bands and ukulele ensembles are great for creating a holiday atmosphere. And what does everyone want to drink on holiday? Cocktails. Lots and lots of cocktails. Blue lagoons, pina coladas and anything with a big piece of fruit on the rim of the glass are just the job.
The Down-to-Earth Duo
Weddings are stressful enough without having to get everyone to the same - so why not have it on your doorstep? After all, you hometown is where you built the foundations of your relationship, and will be where your love will grow and develop.
Where? The Local
If you’ve got a favourite pub, restaurant or other local haunt, chances are the proprietors will be more than happy to let you hire it out for your wedding. Plus, getting there will be a breeze for all your friends and family - they could even hop on the bus!
What? Party Band and Glow-Stick Shots
Throw a bash reminiscent of your favourite nights out on the town and hire yourself a party band. Dancers, DJs and non-stop number 1 smash hits are just what the doctor ordered. What the doctor would probably advise you against are glow-stick shots - the perfect way to combine day-glo club visuals with vision-blurring club drinks - and don’t forget the neon glow-in-the-dark body paint!
