GREEN UNION Gets Greener!

Green Union's Sustainable Credentials

Becoming part of Green Union, and of what it has always stood for, was something that aligned perfectly with my own personal ethos, as much as with my professional work within the wedding industry. Investing in the future of Green Union was not just about a shiny new look and a rebuilt website (although I hope you love them both as much as I do!), it was a process that demanded being true to ethos in as many facets of the business as possible.

In my last blog post, I mentioned the eco/ethical side to my home and personal life, so I thought you might like to know a little more about Green Union’s newly improved eco-credentials and ethical standing.

  • I have signed the Ethical Move pledge (https://www.theethicalmove.org/home), and subscribe to ethical transparency towards both pricing and marketing practices.
  • The website is now hosted by EcoHosting (https://ecohosting.co.uk), a 100% UK-based company who provide carbon neutral web hosting, powered entirely by renewable energy.
  • For every Partner sign-up and renewal, and for additional advertising opportunities also (see https://www.greenunion.co.uk/advertise), I will make a donation towards tree-planting schemes across the world through Treedom. To get the ball rolling, I’ve planted 29 trees - their ‘All Green’ package seemed particularly apt! You’ll find our Green Union community forest here: https://www.treedom.net/en/organization/green-union
  • All Green Union banking is now carried out through Triodos ethical bank (https://www.triodos.co.uk).
  • I work from home, and as you can imagine I spend an awful lot of time on the internet! My electricity is provided by green energy supplier Bulb (www.bulb.co.uk), and I use the Ecosia web search engines (https://www.ecosia.org) - to date, my searches have contributed to the planting of 18 trees.

I’m a firm believer in ‘every little bit helps’ - there are so many solutions and alternatives which have a positive impact upon the environment, and uphold authentic ethical standards, without compromising on quality or service. I’m always on the look-out for ways to improve, so welcome any suggestions you may have!
