Lovely Confetti! And a special offer for British Flowers Week

16th June 2015

Getting married is one of the most exciting days of your life and whether you’re planning a grand venue wedding or just an intimate affair, including the throwing of confetti is the time honoured way to symbolise the union of your marriage.

And while throwing wedding confetti over the bride and groom is a well known tradition,  I think there is so much more you can do with it!  So, to celebrate British Flowers Week, I asked the experts, Shropshire Petals, who grow and produce 100% natural petal confetti on their Shropshire farm in the heart of England, what else they would do with their natural flower petal confetti.  Here they’ve shared their top 5 alternative ways for using wedding confetti:

Jazz up your Wedding Cake

Use large and small natural flower confetti like delphinium and rose petals to turn plain cakes into something spectacular.  Place bold coloured rose petals on top of buttercream for a colour splash, or decorate larger cakes with fresh or dried flowers and sprinkle some smaller petals around when displaying your cake.  This is so simple, yet looks like a piece of art!

Set the Romance

For their wedding night create a romantic bath soak with floating petals, scatter a trail of flower confetti for the bride and groom to follow to their wedding boudoir and make a heart shape out of fragrant petals on their wedding bed for some added romance.

Confetti Filled Balloons

A fun celebration idea is to fill some balloons with flower petal confetti for a great entertainment feature.  Place messages for your guests inside and ask them to pop the balloons letting confetti fall delicately with your messages.

Handmade Gifts and Treats

Petals are fantastic for using to make handmade gifts such as bath bombs and candles.  Personalise them for your wedding guests by adding a small amount of lavender or rose oil for a delicate fragrance or use natural colouring to fit in with you colour theme.

Table Decorations

Confetti is great for decorating wedding tables.  If you’re throwing an afternoon tea party, evening wedding celebration, in fact any other special occasion, sprinkle flower petal confetti all over your crisp white table cloths for colour and texture.
