Today we're extending the warmest welcome to delightful Drift Jewellery, a perfectly formed little design company that hand makes the most beautiful and delicate jewellery using sea glass found on the beaches of Suffolk, Spain and The Isles of Scilly.
When Fiona Petheram told me about her jewellery I was blown away by the romance of the ethereal pieces she makes. The idea that each piece of glass she finds is totally unique and began its journey from something that was once discarded, maybe hundreds of years ago or only last summer. Fascinatingly, the colours seem to reflect the sea - the luminous whites, greens and blues could have been wine, ale or ink bottles, while the rarer purples and pinks could have come from perfume or medicine bottles.
The fact that plastic is so rapidly replacing the use of glass for containers means that all the pieces she makes will become increasingly rare, as the sea glass becomes harder to find.
So having a bespoke piece of sea glass jewellery made to wear on your wedding day, or buying some or Fiona's pieces to give your maids as a thank you, means you'll be investing in a lasting and very precious keep sake.
If you want to find out more about Fiona's work, talk over your own ideas for your wedding jewellery or order some sweet bracelets for your flower girls then go to Drift Jewellery or email fiona@driftjewellery.com.
