INSPIRATIONAL EDITORIAL - A Regency-Inspired Feast For The Eyes, Captured By Kat Forsyth At Sprivers Mansion, Kent

25th December 2020

INSPIRATIONAL EDITORIAL - A Regency-Inspired Feast For The Eyes, Captured By Kat Forsyth At Sprivers Mansion, KentWith so many of us here in the UK under Tier 4 restrictions, it’s a very different Christmas Day than any of us could have imagined at this time last year. With nothing left but to make the best of it, I hope you’re having the loveliest day possible, and for those who may be struggling, here’s to better days ahead of us, and I hope that this lovely mini-shoot brings some warmth and colour to your day. With my floristry hat on, I was thrilled to work with this lovely team, many of whom are long-standing industry friends. The day was captured beautifully by the lovely Kat Forsyth at Sprivers Mansion, an exquisite Grade II listed jewel of a Georgian country house in the Kent countryside. Together, we all created some historically-inspired wedding inspiration worthy of a Jane Austen novel!

The Indoor Bridal Portraits

Karen, our super-talented dress designer, is never one to approach any project by halves:

“This shoot called for a different way to create the look required for the theme. I didn't want to make a dress from scratch but wanted to reinvent one that I already had in stock; a great sustainable way to use a sample that was no longer available to order. I wanted to add some autumnal colour and the rich rust/burgundy was a strong colour to reflect the golds and reds of the beautiful grounds of Sprivers Mansion, as well as showing off the delicate Chantilly lace layer. The result was an empire line, drop shoulder gown with a detachable back cape also in burgundy chiffon and ivory tulle of the longest length for an additional dash of period drama.”

Diane’s gorgeous shoes and a large dried and preserved flower bouquet completed the bridal outfit which looked every bit the part in the various interiors of Sprivers.

The Outdoor Bridal Portraits

On a cold, wet day, a chunky crochet shawl like this one by Tara of Margo Lane makes a lovely cover-up.

The table was styled for a micro-wedding (as we could all see the likelihood of these continuing well into 2021, even before the next round of lockdowns and restrictions). The beautiful vintage crockery, cutlery, glassware and candlesticks were provided by the lovely Ellen of Harriet’s Table. Locally made flavoured vodka favours from Wild Spirits of Kent, plus menus and placenames by Amy completed the table settings.

I made two large urn arrangements for either end of the tablescape, in the centre of which a wonderful single-tiered wedding cake (perfectly proportioned for an intimate wedding) by Claire of The Artisan Cake Kitchen took pride of place:

“The semi-naked cake was inspired by its natural beauty and was topped with sugar roses and foliage supplied by you to match the table decor and bridal bouquet. The cake was made using an environmentally friendly approach where no plastics were used.”
