ADVICE - Wedding Day Essentials: 8 Items You Must Not ForgetPhoto by Sandro Crepulja

Getting married is one of the most exciting steps that you’ll take in life. Although at the moment, you might be feeling as though you’re overwhelmed with stress. But don’t worry, that's only natural.

However, amongst this stress, it’s important that you create a checklist of things that you’ll remember to bring with you on your special day. You don’t want to arrive at your venue only to find that you’re missing something!

So by getting organised ahead of time, you’ll be able to ease the nerves – even if it’s just a little bit. So what must-have items should be on your checklist? To give you some inspiration, we’ve created a list for you to follow:

Your Dress

Ok, so this might sound like an obvious one. But it’s so important that you don’t forget to hang up your dress near your front door so that you can remember to bring it with you on the day. Arguably the star of the show, it’s probably the first thing that should be on your checklist.

Alongside your dress and as part of the whole outfit, you’ll also want to ensure that you’ve packed underwear that will match it perfectly. Luckily, for those eco-conscious brides, there are lots of retailers that offer this at prices that will fit into any budget.

The Suits

If you’re getting married at a hotel, chances are that you’ll be staying there the night before. And if this is the case, your partner and his groomsmen will need to ensure that they have their suits ready to go on the day of your wedding.

Complete with a bow tie or tie, shirt, shoes and any other accessories, it’s vital to have all of these. You don’t want to find that your partner or one of his groomsmen have to rush back home on the day because they’ve forgotten something after all.

Your Vows

There’s nothing worse than heading to the altar and realising that you’ve forgotten your vows. Particularly important if you’ve written your own, you don’t want to find that on the day you’re having to make them up.

So make sure that they are packed along with your other essentials in your bag. Then, before the service, consider handing them to a member of your bridal party so that they can look after them until it’s time to read them.

Getting Ready Attire

When you’re getting ready before the service, you’ll want a comfortable outfit to wear. Something that brides often forget, it’s an essential when you’re getting your hair and makeup done. You don’t want to be wearing something formal, so consider investing in a dressing gown or another type of clothing that you can easily take off without touching your hair or makeup.

Your Wedding Bands

You’d be surprised just how many best men have forgotten the wedding bands. So make sure this doesn’t happen ahead of time. You don’t want to be recreating the scene in Four Weddings & A Funeral. So check with your best man that he has the ring kept safely in his pocket and with him on the way to the venue.

Your Glasses!

If you wear glasses, it’s essential that you don’t forget these on the day. Although many brides and grooms opt to wear contact lenses, those who don’t must guarantee that they have their glasses with them ahead of the ceremony.

This is particularly important if you’ve treated yourself to a pair of new glasses (i.e Vera Bradley glasses or another designer pair) as they are the ultimate accessory.

An Overnight Bag

Alongside your clothes and items that you need for the day, you’ll also want to remember to bring your overnight bag with you. Typically including pyjamas and an outfit for the next day, it will ensure that you’re not having to wear your dress/suit down to breakfast the following morning.

If you want to treat yourself to a new duffle bag for the big day, there are plenty available for every eco-conscious bride or groom.

Your Shoes

As part of your outfit, you won’t want to forget your shoes. Especially as you likely bought these for your big day. An accessory that completes your look, it will be something that should be near the top of your checklist from the get-go.

Final Thoughts

So, there you go! Those are 8 wedding day essentials that you must not forget. Of course, this isn’t a complete list. So it’s important ahead of time that you thoroughly plan out exactly what you’re going to bring so that you’re as organised as possible.
