WEDDING STYLING ADVICE - How To Accessorise On Your Wedding Day

11th June 2020

So much planning goes into your big day, it makes sense to get the small details right as well.

Society is changing, and so are weddings. The trends for 2020 suggest that more people are going in for sustainable weddings, micro weddings, and weddings with niche themes, such as rock and roll, fantasy, or desert chic.

Regardless of the theme or style, the planning process is likely to be just as arduous. There are still venues to book, guest lists to write, and dress codes to organise. The overall success of a wedding day is all in the planning. Everything needs to be put in place before the big day because there won’t be another chance for it.

With so much to do beforehand, it’s easy to overlook the small details that can make all the difference to how the big day unfolds. What about the weather, for instance - do you have a contingency plan for if the rain comes on and forces everyone indoors? And what about accessories, you’ve spent loads of time choosing your dress or suit but can 5% be added to the outfit.

When you’ve planned the main aspects of your wedding day, it might be time to reflect on what more can be done to ensure the day goes to plan and really shines. After all, it will be one day you will never forget.

Accessories

Let’s say you’ve found the perfect wedding dress, one that suits your personality and the wedding theme you’re going for. It’s time to consider how best to accessorise. Are you going to wear a veil? There are many to choose from. Will you need a cover-up if the weather changes?

Finding the perfect necklace for your wedding is also worthy of consideration. If you wear one, it will need to stand out but not undermine the dress. A beautiful minimal necklace is excellent, with a shape and material to complement your style.

Shoes

Professional style people know that when planning what to wear for a formal occasion, you should always plan from the shoes up. Your choice of footwear can make or break a suit, so it pays to spend some time considering your options.

Oxford Shoes for weddings are always a safe choice. They are a little more costly than alternatives, but they are a trusted style, the firm foundation for any formal event. They are also exceptionally well made and can be used time and again.

The Idea

After you’ve said yes it’s easy to get caught up in the idea of getting married without first of all envisioning what type of wedding it’s going to be.

Is it going to be traditional or themed?

You might want to know the answer to this before you book a venue and buy a dress. Spend some time conceptualising the wedding itself. Think about your values as a couple and what you want on your wedding day to communicate to the world.

When you have this information, it’s much easier to choose styles and decorations that all work together.
