Civil Partnerships

Whether you're planning a civil partnership, affirmation, blessing, committment ceremony or celebration as a gay couple we, at GreenUnion, can help.

Much of what is offered on these pages is equally relevant if you're planning a beautiful celebration of your partnership.

A civil partnership is the legal recognition of a same sex couple's relationship and gives you 'Civil Partnership Status' within the eyes of British Law. It is a legal requirement to give notice of your intention at your local registration authority and the civil partnership ceremony can take place either at a register office or venues presently approved for marriage. A word of warning though, venues do have the right to choose if they wish to hold a civil partnership ceremony.

It is also possible for a civil partnership to be registered at the residence of someone who is housebound or seriously ill and not expected to recover.

The General Register Office for England and Wales, for Scotland and Northern Ireland all have good websites detailing information about the rules governing civil partnerships in their areas.

There are heaps of ways to personalise your special day and GreenUnion will be filling these pages with ceremony ideas specially designed for gay couples.

We're currently featuring David and Oliver's 'Most Civil Day' in GreenUnion diaries. So if you're interested in how they did it you can read more about their ups and downs, and highs and lows there.

We'd love you to share your own eco-civil diary with us, so do get in touch.
