Jewellery

Now here's a lovely little gem of a winter wedding.  Even though it looks like summer's only just on it's way, I know some of you will be in the midst of planning a winter wedding for the end of 2017 or 2018 ...

Cheryl and Oliver tied the knot on the Fens in the depth of winter 2016, on 29th December, and when she contacted me listing her bullet points I knew this little gem of a wedding was one you would love to hear about:

  • Ceremony in a small church in Coveney - Cambridgeshire.
  • Reception on a farm with converted barn called Bedingham’s Farm Sutton Gault, Cambridgeshire. The farm serves it’s own hog roast and is also a small holding.
  • Dress was a vintage inspired tea length gown.
  • Bought our rings from Glasswing Jewellery - found in Green Union’s wedding directory.
  • We offered home made sloe gin and blackberry brandy as favours.
  • We hired a local amateur photographer, Darren John, who captured our love and appreciation of the outdoors.
  • The feel/vibe of the day was vintage, coupled with our love of nature (even in winter), ale and rock and roll music. We hired 2 gramophones and played pre. 1950’s music as our guests arrived.
  • Our centrepieces alluded to our love of those pubs recognised by CAMRA and were decorated with a winter theme of pine cones and natural logs.

So I'm handing over the Cheryl to tell you all about the details in her own words ...

I don't know about you, but when it comes to jewellery, I personally love the elegantly modern, Fairtrade and quirkily unique.  So when I discovered Daniel Darby’s collection I was seriously smitten.

I think Dan’s inspiration and ethos behind his collection is just perfect. He really believes that the wearing of jewellery should be a joyful experience that’s made through the choice of truly beautiful materials worthy of the special moments the piece celebrates.  I could definitely wear some of his pieces on a daily basis, but they would perfectly adorn brides and grooms equally well on their special day, with that timeless quality that will stay with you forever.

Dan says “I can think of no better materials than Fairtrade gold to represent couples sharing their future together!”

You’ve been engaged for a while, months, years, and you chose your engagement ring some time ago.  Now you’re getting married and really want to find the perfect wedding band to match your engagement ring.

Maybe, when he proposed, your OH gave you a family heirloom which will never match a new wedding band exactly but you absolutely adore it!

Maybe your style has changed a little, or maybe you’re thinking it would be really lovely to have totally mismatched set.  Ethical jeweller Arabel Lebrusan gives us some fantastic tips on how to go about finding the perfect match.

You’ve decided to propose to your boyfriend this leap year, but you’re struggling to come up with romantic ideas ...

Your boyfriend’s just realised that 2016 is a leap year and he’s started daring you to pop the question on 29 February - you sort of know he’s not really expecting you to do it, but why shouldn't you be the one to ask for his hand in marriage?  After all, it is a leap year and traditionally 29th February is the one day of the year when girls can propose to their beaus. Go girl!
