Faritrade & Fairmined Gold revealed

At the end of last year April Doubleday, ethical jewellery designer of beautifully crafted Fairtrade and Fairmined Gold wedding and engagement rings told us she was about to embark on the journey of a lifetime. We asked her to tell us all about it on her return. Over to you April...

"Christmas 2012, after much planning my son and myself were heading out to Columbia.

I am a designer and maker of jewellery and have been using ethical gold and recycled silver since becoming a jeweller. From 2011 quite a lot of gold from the Choco Region of Columbia has been certified Fairtrade and Fairmined Ecological Gold.

Since 2006 I have been passionate about visiting the miners and the source of my gold, a dream that now, on Christmas Day flying into Bogotá, was going to be realised.

Don't forget Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight kicks off this weekend and there's plenty of fun and smiles to go around.

For Fairtrade Fortnight 2011 the Foundation is asking the nation to show off about buying Fairtrade which offers 7.5 million people in the developing world a more secure future.

You can show off Fairtrade any way you want. Take part in their bunting record attempt, hold a fashion show with your friends, or be loud and proud about how you support farmers and workers in developing countries.

They've got all sorts of tools to help you do it. So whether you're a business, a supporter or campaign group, look around their site, get inspired and get ready to Show Off Your Label.

Ethical flower girl dresses coming soon ...

Isn't she just delicious?

Last week we told you about the new Tammam ethical and fair trade wedding dress range just launched and due to be stocked in our Boutique from January 2011.

Now we're delighted to tell you that we will be also be stocking Lucy's brand new bridesmaid and flower girl dresses too.

As with the wedding gowns, these new frocks will be made in Tammam's atelier in India under fair trade conditions using hand loomed organic cotton and silk fabrics.
