Eco friendly wedding transport

Here's a fabulous idea for couples looking for ways to keep their carbon footprint down on their wedding day.

wedding_pedicab.jpg

Travelling in style from home to church or registry office, and on to your reception, in this immaculate cycle rickshaw by Wedding Cycles will make your day truly exceptional. Not only will it bring a smile to your face but the sight of you on your way to your wedding will make people en route turn and stare!

And Alison, who rides the pedicab, points out that since the rickshaw only uses pedal power she can guarantee no hike in prices due to rising fuel costs! The rickshaw is a really affordable way to get to the church on time, with celebration ribbons and a 'Getting Married' sign all included in the very reasonable price.

Magical grand yurt palace launched

Amy at Hooes Yurts recently sent us this update, all about their amazingly huge new yurt and the day it was launched:

palace_yurt.jpg

"Over the Easter weekend Hooe’s Yurts hosted an open day to celebrate the completion of our huge new 44ft yurt. It was a fantastic day supported by some excellent local wedding suppliers and enjoyed by a crowd of happy guests. Needless to say lots of cake was eaten and the yurt had the joyous christening it deserved!

yurt_exterior.jpg

The new 44ft yurt is a cathedral sized structure with the capacity for 120 guests to dine under its majestic high ceiling. This wonderful tent can be linked with other large yurts to create a yurt 'palace' ideal for big weddings. For the open day we attached a chill out snug with a wood burner to show how it is possible to create alcoves off the larger yurts which are great for entertaining children in a separate, but attached space, or for guests to relax in after some serious dancing!

Ethical jubilee jewels fit for a Queen

CRED, the pioneer Fair Trade jewellery company that is constantly stepping up to the mark, is also bang on trend with their latest stunning Limited Edition Jubilee collection, launched yesterday.

We absolutely love this new range of jewellery, not only because it's a very wearable alternative to the 'commemorative mug' for stylistas, but the collection has design longevity and the individual pieces are definitely destined to become classic collectibles to hand down to the next generation without the risk of being damaged through use!

cred_jubilee_set.jpg

Inspired by British icons, and made from recycled silver, the set of three pieces includes a long-chain crown pendant and crown stud earrings, plus a statement ring set with stones in a choice of three pastels - colours that featured up and down the Spring/Summer 2012 catwalks.

cred_jubilee_rings.jpg

Perfect either for everyday or occasion wear, and very affordable, we think these pieces would not only be a great alternative choice of affordable engagement pledge but also make ideal 'thank you' gifts for bridesmaids and mother-in-laws.

But they're only available until October 2012, so don't wait around, they will be gone in a jiffy!

For more information about this beautiful new collection, and to purchase an iconic heirloom, go to www.credjewellery.com.

Wedding food doesn't get better that this ...

Chatting to Alex, who runs Alexandra's Kitchen in West Sussex along with her husband Nor, the other day, I couldn't help but be thoroughly impressed with their food philosophy.

salmon_mouse.jpg

She told us that they specialise in using seasonal ingredients, many of them home grown. They do all their own cooking, preferring not to buy in any ready-made dishes. They try and base all our menus, which range from simple finger buffets to fully plated meals of three or more courses, on organic, seasonal and locally produced ingredients which include flowers, herbs and salads grown in their gardens. Where do they find the time?
