April 27, 2012A piece of 'wedding' cake! When Lisa of Tricky Treats, who makes dreamy wedding cakes using only the very best local and organic ingredients, joined Green Union's wedding directory she let slip that she had recently got married. It sounded like an amazing affair so we asked her to tell us more. Over to you Lisa ... "We got married on the 30th April 2011. It was a gorgeous sunny day with only a few drops of rain! The service was emotional but by the time we started singing ‘When I’m 64’ all the nerves had gone and we were well on our way to having a great party.
My beautiful dress was designed and made by Kirstie Macleod. It was the most dreamy outfit I have ever worn. Towards the end of the evening I put on my headdress made by my wonderful friend Steph of Feathersmith. Within the headdress she had also incorporated bit of lace from my dress and material from the bridesmaids dresses. I absolutely love it! My husband has a small obsession with owls so as well as the classic English garden party theme we had a few owls thrown in the mix too. Every table had an owl name and picture painted by Tess and her Dad. So we think it's got to be a perfect time to throw a wedding, with great opportunities for fresh Easter themed wedding decorations.
One of our favourite and creative decoration companies is POSH Graffiti by Emily Readett-Bayley, which has recently launched a new range of ornate painted eggs and other decorations.
For a burst of spring loveliness, hang on blossom boughs to make a wishing tree and use their signature hand carved painted letters to create a statement in your wedding venue.
For more ideas and to see their full range visit the POSH Graffiti website. Posted in Green Wedding Decorations & Details , Ethical Vendors , Gifts & Favours April 25, 2012Fantastic midweek eco friendly wedding offer for July 2012!

Splendid Communications is conducting a wedding survey which is open to anyone who got married in 2007 or later, or who is currently planning on tying the knot: it takes around 5 minutes to complete. It's a global survey, so brides and/or grooms in any country are welcome to participate. All answers are anonymous and the entire thing should take about five minutes to complete. Splendid Communications has no financial bias linked to the results of this survey, but in an industry which is full of mystery we will all be delighted to see the results. It makes no difference whether or not a couple uses magazines over blogs (or vice versa) when planning their wedding, or whether or not they identify more as modern or vintage. You can participate in the survey here - it'll be fun to see the results! Posted in Green Wedding Events , Marquees & Tents April 01, 2012Spring equinox - celebrate the first day of spring!Today's spring equinox marks the point in space and time when the sun moves across the celestial equator from south to north and heralds the first day of spring, saying goodbye to winter for another year. The Vernal Equinox, when the length of day and night are equal, is a celebration for the renewed life of the Earth, symbolised by the egg. Eostre, the goddess of spring with her animal the hare, was taken up by the early Christians and applied to their celebration of the Resurrection of Christ calling it Easter, which is just around the corner.
Planning a spring green union can be an absolute joy with a wealth of decoration ideas. Spring colours are fresh and brand new, and perfumes are divine. Yellow is predominant but there are also subtle tones of blues, dusky pinks and real lime green too. Natural blossom is dripping from the trees and one of our favourite looks is masses of blossom twigs combined with tulips. Don't forget painted eggs and egg hunts for your younger guests if your wedding is close to Easter. Posted in Green Wedding Inspiration , Seasonal Celebrations |
