Awards all round!
The judges decision was immediate and unanimous, due to the fact that Conscious Elegance is a completely green enterprise. The company strives for 100% sustainability, from the fabrics to the recycled packaging materials. No factories or sweatshops here and CE makes a point of sourcing from other small businesses, especially those that allow mums to earn an income while staying at home with their children. We like that! Founder and designer, Lori Del Genis says, 'Conscious Elegance is all about making easy choices that have far-reaching effects. Being eco-conscious can also mean thinking outside of the corporate box. For example, we offer fabric choices for vegan brides who wish to support their values with a wedding dress that's every bit as gorgeous as they would see on the high street." What's more, Lori will rework a client's used gown into an infant or child's outfit (for the christening maybe?) at no extra charge. Now that's great recycling and value for money Lori says, 'we don't want to promote the one-time use of an item. We want our gowns to have lives beyond the wedding day and let the children be beautiful too. Since we've found that most bride's love their wedding dresses too much to want to take them off, we think that we're onto something.' This means that the fabrics in the childrens' clothing are the just the same as in the bridal gowns: organic and pesticide-free. They are perfect for sensitive skin and they're machine washable - always a plus but not usually expected in fancy clothes. |
